Do You Want Justice?

Spirit asked me: Do you want justice?

Justice for my mother,
Justice for my grandmother,
Justice for my great-grandmother,
Justice for all of my mothers before me.

Justice for women,
Justice for me.

Do you want justice?

After the winds tore me to shreds,
After the mountains crumbled upon me,
After the fire burned away my fear,
The still, quiet voice whispered

Yes.
Yes, I said.
We demand justice.
We demand freedom.
We demand peace.

Then ride it out.
Watch what the Lord of Hosts will do.

I will not back down.
I will not be silenced.
I will not let narcissism, patriarchy,
misogyny win
Not another, single, day.

You will have justice.

So your daughters will live without fear.
So your sons will grow into men,
Men who will know love again,
Feel its truth in their hearts.

So the structures that hold you in slavery
Will be torn down.
So every person will again know what it is to be—

The Children of the one true Living God
